Mary Anne Tillona
Tillona Law was founded by Mary Anne Tillona in 2006. Prior to the firm’s formation, Ms. Tillona served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of a Vertafore, Inc., a software technology firm serving the insurance industry which is currently headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Ms. Tillona served as a member of the executive management team and had responsibility for all legal affairs of the company and its affiliates.
Experience
Mary Anne has had extensive in-house corporate legal experience for several domestic firms with international presence, as well as experience in private practice in Connecticut. She has negotiated many mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions, including those involving international affiliates and third parties. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and brings a practical, business-oriented approach to the practice of corporate law.
Mary Anne regularly represents clients in connection with all types of corporate legal work, specializing in negotiation and preparation of many types of commercial agreements, such as:
Mary Anne has also provided clients guidance in the areas of employment law and risk mitigation, as well as having served as a legal adviser in structuring new business models for clients (and providing and negotiating the operative agreements to support the new activity).
Memberships
Mary Anne is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Licensing Executives Society and the Connecticut Technology Council. She is also a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mary Anne is also a member of the League of American Bicyclists, a not-for-profit organization promoting bicycling safety and better facilities, infrastructure and education for cyclists.
Education
Mary Anne received a JD from Western New England College School of Law (cum laude) in 1987.
Mary Anne also holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Connecticut (1980).
